สนุกนะ สนุกว่าชุด Throne of Glass อีก คือก่อนหน้าที่จะอ่าน ACOTAR เราไม่ได้คาดหวังอะไรเลยกับงานของ Maas เล่มนี้ ด้วยการไม่หวังอะไรนี่แหละ เลยทำให้เราสมหวังมากหลังจากอ่านหนังสือเล่มนี้จบ ACOTAR คือการนำ Beauty and the Beast มาปัดฝุ่นและเล่าใหม่ผ่านโลกแห่งแฟนตาซีของ Maas ที่กว้างใหญ่ไพศาลจนต้องเขียนแผนที่ออกมา โดยการเล่าเรื่องใหม่ครั้งนี้ไม่ได้ทำให้มันออกมาหวานจ๋อยเหมือนกับการ์ตูนของดิสนีย์หรือนิยายรีเทลลิ่งเรื่องอื่นๆ แต่ Maas เล่าผ่านพื้นหลังที่ลึกลับ ซับซ้อนและดาร์คอยู่พอตัว

ดังนั้นแน่นอน หนังสือเล่มนี้จึงไม่ได้เจาะกลุ่มเป้าหมาย YA สักเท่าไร เพราะเราว่ามันน่าจะเหมาะกับผู้ใหญ่มากกว่า เนื้อเรื่องถึงพริกถึงขิง มีฉากรัก ช่วงแรกจะให้อารมณ์ว่านางเอกคือร่างอวตารของแคตนิส เอเวอร์ดีน + เบลล่า สวอน พอนางเอกมาอยู่กับพระเอกแล้ว ช่วงนี้แหละคือจุดที่เราจะหักคะแนน โอยยย มันเนือยมากกกก มันน่าเบื่ออ่ะ คือเราไม่ได้รู้สึกถึงเคมีระหว่างพระนางเลยแม้แต่น้อย ในทางตรงข้าม...สิ่งที่เราชื่อว่ามันมีความรักระหว่างทั้งคู่อยู่ก็คือ Maas ทำให้เราเชื่อมาตั้งแต่ต้นว่าเฟย์เรอคือ Beauty และทัมลินคือ Beast และทั้งสองเกิดมาเพื่อคู่กัน นั่นทำให้เราพอจะอ่านต่อไปได้จนจบโดยไม่ติดใจอะไรมาก นิสัยของพระเอกจะดูเมินๆ เฉยๆ โอเค ... มันมีช่วงที่พระเอกพยายามจะเข้าหานางเอกอยู่ก็จริง แต่เราว่ามันไม่สุดอ่ะ มันเหมือนเด็กไฮสคูลที่เพิ่งหัดจีบกัน เนือยไปอีก

ความรักระหว่างพระนางเนี่ย Maas เขียนออกมาได้งุ่มง่ามมาก ช่วงเลิฟซีนก็พยายามบรรยายหลบๆเลี่ยงๆตลอด (แอบขัดใจ) นางเอกสมบุกสมบันต่อสู้จนแขนหักกระดูกทิ่มออกมา ส่วนพระเอกทำอะไรหรอ ? นั่งเฉยๆอยู่ข้างตัวร้ายจ้า (โอยยยย ร้องไห้แป๊บ) แต่คือถ้าใครชอบ เบลล่า Twilight ในคราบสาวนักสู้แบบแคตนิส The Hunger Games กับพระเอกทื่อๆแบบโฟร์ Divergent ก็คงจะชอบเรื่องนี้แน่ๆ (แล้วเราก็เป็นหนึ่งในนั้นด้วยไง)

แต่โดยรวมแล้วสนุก อ่านแล้วต้องเปิดหน้าต่อไปพั่บๆๆๆ เรียกว่าเป็น real page-turner เลยก็ว่าได้ ตอนจบถึงจะห้วนไปหน่อย แต่เข้าใจว่ามีเล่มต่อ และยังเหลือคิงไฮเบิร์นอีกราย เนื้อเรื่องน่าจะไม่หยุดแค่นี้แน่ๆ 9 คะแนนเพราะตรงกับรสนิยมส่วนตัวเต็มๆ ชอบการเล่าเรื่องกับโลกในหนังสือเล่มนี้มากๆ
